Delrin is a trade name for the polyacetals (POM) material group. These materials are used to produce a wide variety of objects, and they can be laser engraved quite well. The engraving does not produce any color change, but the material is easy to remove.
Among other applications, Delrin is used to produce embossing dies. Embossing dies are used to emboss paper with a positive and a negative relief. The positive relief has white lettering on a black background and the negative relief is inverted and mirrored. It is easy to execute mirroring and inversion in any graphics program. The two reliefs produced in this way are placed in a special press and are used to emboss paper. It is very important to ensure a precise fit between the two dies.
