When choosing equipment for laser stone engraving, your options are fairly open - it is well supported by virtually any laser system, using any laser power (watts). A medium resolution (such as 250 dpi) is usually sufficient. Make sure the material inserted into the laser system has a maximum weight of 45 lbs (20 kgs) over the entire working area (no punctual load), otherwise the working table cannot be moved up and down, which is necessary to achieve proper engraving. To conduct colored stone engraving, try using masking tape to create a stencil. Cover the stone with the tape where you don't want to use color, start the engraving job, add color (spray), then remove the masking tape. This works best for plane engravings, rather than for fine detail raser engraving of pictures.
Another plus for stone engraving: it does not require special attention on the exhaust system, as very little material is removed during the engraving process. This means that stone engraving is not a dust-intensive application, making it even easier - and safer - to work with.
